Professor

Shine Alex Mani is an Academician and Urban Designer based in Kochi, serving as a visiting faculty at Abate Institute of Architecture, Perinthalmanna, since 2013, and also at the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT-C). He is a practicing architect, urban designer, and educator with a comprehensive background in large-scale urban projects and sustainable design.

Shine completed his Master’s degree in Urban Design from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi (SPA). His professional career began at Reliance Industries Limited, where he contributed to the Master Planning of the Reliance Haryana SEZ. He then served as a Senior Manager in Architecture and Planning at the Delhi branch office of the leading Mexican construction company, HOMEX.

In 2012, Shine founded TULAA Architects, a Kerala-based firm known for its diverse portfolio, which includes government and private institutions, corporate workplaces, commercial complexes, hospitals, resorts, and private homes. Notably, the firm designed a Super Specialty Hospital in Nigeria, utilizing sandwich panels to achieve a sustainable and cost-effective building solution.

Shine’s academic career has been marked by his engagement with design and urban design studios at the Abate Institute of Architecture. He is recognized for his expertise in urban issues, having lectured extensively across India and reviewed numerous technical research papers on urban design. His research interests focus on developing sustainable urban economies and promoting humanitarian design through an inclusive approach.
