Ar. Fathimath Savina is an accomplished Architect specializing in Urban Design. She earned her postgraduate degree (M.Arch) from the College of Engineering Trivandrum and her undergraduate degree (B.Arch) from the prestigious Abate Institute of Architecture.
During her academic journey, Savina's professional training with Ar. Asok Raj Raveendran at Contour Dakshin Architects (CDA) in Calicut significantly influenced her approach to the design process in architecture. Her undergraduate dissertation, which analyzed the elements of quality of public spaces based on the documentary Social Life of Small Urban Spaces by W. H. Whyte, and her undergraduate thesis focusing on rephrasing Kuthampully Handloom Village, Thrissur, fueled her interest in pursuing a Master's in Urban Design.
Post-graduation, her professional training with Ar. Nirmal Chandy Mathew provided her with an opportunity to contribute to a Kerala Government tourism project under KTDC in Kollam. This project involved creating tourism circuits across Ashtamudi Lake and Manroe Island. Her master’s research paper delving into the spatial relationship between food and urban form led to her final thesis titled "Food as a Cultural Tool in Shaping an Urban Fabric: Case of Kolkata."
Savina's research interests are centered around developing a design philosophy for creating 'tiny places' in both scales of architecture and urban design. As the founder and Principal Architect of Tiny Studio, based in Palakkad, Savina firmly believes in the transformative power of small spaces and the importance of the place-making process in architectural design.
